I've been sending my ideas under issue discussions and pretty sure that couple of things we have today were inspired by other UIs like Elk and Mastodon Bird UI.
But things need to be built to core. The SCSS side of it needs major rework. I hope they find someone who is eager to take the task.

Just sitting here this morning scrolling through Mastodon and it occurred to be amazed and thankful for a piece of software that just does it's primary function without being bombarded by a bunch of nonsense or sucking up personal information and selling it off. It is really amazing how few things are left in our daily lives that are not crammed full of exploitive junk. Thank you Mastodon for simply existing.
I absolutely agree 100%: I actually get *much* more engagement here (like 10 fold many times) on #Mastodon compared to #Twitter / #X, and shared direct post comparisons on mastodon in past.
Dramatic difference, easily explained by downranking algorithm for not putting corporate interests first.
Since creating tens of hours per week of work, I'll choose to (at least for now) maximize ppl seeing.
Though I do tend to feel icky on there, knowing what they are up to.
Kept an account on X to share my content, as it appears #corporate run algorithms never appreciated it (6yr).
Even negative score for "sharing investigative techniques" aka sharing how to protect ppl's #privacy for ethical reasons / #OSINT
And without self promotion / resharing, hardly anyone sees it - many times spending 10+hours working on a short video.

We have now successfully upgraded to v4.4.0-alpha.1+mementomods-2025-01-05.
The branch is now synced and up-to-date and 94 commits ahead from the last version which was v4.4.0-alpha.1+mementomods-2024-12-15.
As usual, please tell me or our other admins about any strange things you may encounter with this Mastodon version. We're running bleeding edge after all.

One thing I have found about the Fediverse is it kind of sucks when it comes to old posts you might want to see and react to that didn't get seen by your account or instance as they are to young.
It would be amazing if there was a way for your account to 'see' the old posts from instances by simply searching the original post url or something.
Is there any work around for this, I found Boosting the original post on Mastodon is alright but what do you do for Lemmy stuff?

The Fediverse makes me anxious sometimes. It's not always pure joy and bliss, especially as an admin.
Top 5 things that make me anxious here:
1. When people can't just agree to disagree, but have to crucify others or report them because they didn't like what they said - or even start a hateful campaign for it
2. When people endlessly nitpick and dissect otherwise good post
3. When the obscure and dark instances or nostr users find your posts and start posting hateful content because of "free speech"
4. When you get judged if you use the wrong word or even hint towards something that someone doesn't agree on
5. When you make a decision in moderation and any decision pisses off someone - lose-lose situation
It's not daily or often times even monthly, but it happens. I'm glad we mostly get along though.
Blocking, fediblocking, reporting and muting are the most important features here.
Someone: posts good content
Mastodon users: boost enough that content gets on to /explore
2 random users: start a fight about a side-issue from the first reply and continue pointlessly for 47 consecutive toots, relegating all actually interesting comments to the bottom of a long page of garbage, where they will never be seen.
Sigh.
