Fediverse is a bad name. I officially propose we call ourselves something cool like the Federation

I wanna see what the brilliant minds of the Federation propose.
I just wanted to take a moment to tell everyone that the Fedilab Androïd app is an EXCELLENT Mastodon client, the best one in my humble opinion.
I know it also acts as a Pleroma, Friendica and Pixelfed Client but I haven't messed with that yet.
Also the developper is going through a bit of a hard time so if you can support him or go give him some words of encouragement at @apps

The work #ghost is doing to their #fediverse integration is pretty interesting. 😎 Like having long and short distinction, for consuming content, on the UI. It sounds obvious, but not as wide use. Maybe #Substack does this? 🤔
Ghost versatility may make it excellent for single user instances.
Example, same thing you use for publishing long form content is same tool you use to spam about pugs. 🐶 All without polluting the streams. Very nice. 😄

Ich habe ja eine Mastodon Test-Instanz für mich am Laufen. Nur so zum Testen und Spielen. Aber das ist ja abartig, was Mastodon an Speicherplatz benötigt.
Das Teil läuft seit ~2 Tagen und belegt jetzt so um die 70 GB. Das ist doch nicht normal, oder? 😯
Im Vergleich dazu meine Friendica Instanz. Die läuft seit einem Jahr und belegt so um die 10 GB.

OK so... I have to request the timeline using the client API, which only gives me opaque IDs for each profile. Then I need to look up the profile using the client API, to get the actual Activitypub ID, stored in the "uri" property. Then I need to use the server API to get the profile, according to that APID. There's no server API for getting instance timelines, and there's no client API for getting a profile's inbox/following/etc timeline URIs. Basically I have to go through the nonstandard "gargron special surprise" protocol in order to do anything with ActivityPub and instance timelines. Am I understanding that right?

Recently came across @vmstan's bot @mergebot, which is great if you want to stay on top of Mastodon's development.
Pairs well with @mastodon_mobile_apps, which keeps track of latest updates to Mastodon's official mobile apps.
I also made @mastodonroadmap, which is a bit less useful these days as the Mastodon roadmap hasn't been getting updated much lately, and the no longer active @mastodonmilestoneprogress, as the team has moved away from using GitHub milestones.

@indivisibleteam shared how constituent calls swayed 34 House members to change their vote from Y to N on that horrible HR 9495, the nonprofit killer bill (incl my own Rep Donald Norcross, whom I called). You CAN make a difference.

Oh ja, es wäre ja wirklich toll, wenn man wenigstens das eine begriffen hätte.
Die Diskussion entzündet sich ja immer am selben Ort, dann nämlich, wenn vom "Mastdon-Netzwerk" gefaselt wird. Ich habe noch nie vom "Pleroma-Netzwerk", vom "Akkoma-Netzwerk", vom "Hubzilla-Netzwerk", vom "Friendica-Netzwerk", vom "Misskey-Netzwerk" etc gelesen.
Immer nur eine Software, ihr(e) Macher und ihre Anhänger scheinen da Anspruch auf das Tempo-Taschentuch haben zu wollen.
Wieso? Wieso kann man die Dinge korrekt benennen? Das #Fediverse ist das Netzwerk und alle sind Teile davon, genauso, wie der #Fediverse ein Teil de Internets ist.
Was ist daran so schwierig zu verstehen?
