This legislation is hugely important and politicians must never ever be empowered in this way. Digital ID is wrong on so many levels and for so many reasons I won't go into here. We absolutely do not need it in the #UK and it is anti-British and I am ashamed that this is even a discussion.
The answer is NO. NO to digital ID and you're sacked for even proposing it #STARMEROUT
#UK question: what is the difference between Civil Marriage and Civil Partnership in the UK (more specifically #Scotland if it changes anything)? Why would you choose one over the other? Is it just that "civil marriage" is more likely to get recognised internationally?
I can't seem to find any clear info on this online..
Edit:
- this Reddit thread gives some info, but mostly unsourced. In this one someone summarised the England & Wales rules.
- this page from what seems to be a legal firm is quite useful and focuses on Scottish law.
Basically it seems that the few legal differences are inconsequential.

Green Party (of England & Wales) membership stood at around 68,000 when @ZackPolanski became leader & in not even 3 months, the party’s membership has increased by over 100,000 people!
That is not just a monumental shift, we are seeing the first signs of a literal restructuring of #UK politics.
The people yearn for compassionate and sensible #politics, not pandering to the rich and racist.

Not just the NHS. Universities and the whole UKRI are under its grip, incomprehensibly. How was this frog ever not going to be boiled? And it's not for lack of good alternatives.

The UK and Denmark are so poor, so immoral, so without humanity, so uncivilised that they will steal the last belongings of refugees. What sad, pathetic countries. How embarrassed must their people be?

Why do I get the feeling that lately, in so many countries, new regulations are popping up with only one purpose - to erode privacy 🔓? It feels like a bad joke. I can't keep up anymore.
I wish I could fight them all at once, put pressure everywhere 🌍, no matter where I live. But I don't have the time. I'm already drowning in an endless to-do list.
Why couldn't the government set a different deadline? Why are they so determined to push this through? My mind can't wrap around it
I just hope they come to their senses and never implement it 🙏

"Together with visa application fees, scientists hoping to move to the U.K. face paying more than £20,000 up front for a family of four, 17 times more than in comparable countries, which makes it challenging to recruit talent."
Combined with abysmally low salaries and high costs of living, well, we are past "urgent action needed". Bring on desperate measures instead.

Happy to see Lindsay Sandiford finally escape the death penalty in Indonesia.
bbc.com/news/articles/cd043m90…
It’s a tragic and not clear-cut case but everyone deserves legal representation (and I find the death penalty barbaric). In 2013, when the UK government wouldn’t help her, we did and paid for her appeal:
