The U.S. gov. has tried to silence photographers before.

"It hired famed photographer Dorothea Lange to take pictures as 110,000 Japanese and Japanese-Americans were removed from their homes on the West Coast and interned at remote military-style camps throughout the interior.

The agency had hoped Lange's photos would depict the process as orderly and humane.

But the hundreds of photos that Lange turned over did the opposite."

This is a stupid picture of a lemon, dropped from very high, into a narrow water pitcher that is sitting on the railing of my 3rd story deck in San Francisco. The lemon hits the water and plunges downward, creating a tall calla lily shaped, sparkly, upward splash. Over a dozen lemons were lost in this experiment. Most landed on the deck below. A few hit the ground 35 feet down. Only one hit the mark. It's fucking hard dropping a lemon using a long tongs with one hand while pointing a camera with the other. It takes aim, timing, focus, and pot. Ansel Adams could never...

Vintage lenses paired with modern digital cameras can produce some lovely results, as I've discovered with my 50-something year-old Helios 44m f2 and X-T4.
Yes, manual focusing is tricky and, yes, the lens has weak contrast, but I'm really enjoying the way it renders scenes and it seems especially suited to black and white.
It gives a charming, classic feel to images with swirly bokeh.

Cornered

Photo looking up at a corner of the flat roof over a petrol station. There's a certain ambiguity due to lack of context, but it's an interior corner, most of the image is blank grey sky. At the bottom the edge of the roof is lit from under a small lip running around the top. The edge is otherwise a broad red band over a small white one. In the darkness underneath, there's a single small square light close to the bottom right corner. It's pretty dirty.
