But it seems that the idea of linking #OpenStreetMap to discover content near you was something missing here. It was designed to never use a GPS. It warns you when your city is too small and suggests the biggest one around. Topics and language allow you to get tailored content. I will introduce the #ActivityPub Event used by #Mobilizon for the event topic.

The reason Mastodon (and the wider Fediverse that it is part of) doesn't go down is because all its servers are totally independent. One Fedi server might go down, but that doesn't affect the other servers at all.
That's one of the many advantages of decentralisation, that there is no central point of failure.
Centralised networks go down because they depend on one central organisation's infrastructure.

Und zwar habe ich gesehen das ich in Sachen Beiträge vor allen via Lemmy Feedback bekomme, aber in den allermeisten Fällen kaum aus dem Rest des Fediverse. Please also realise that there are hundreds of Palestinians who are Gaza verified and they are all suffering through genocide and many are watching their families starve or die due to lack of access to modern medicine (again, because Israel has bombed all the hospitals and doesn’t let aid through as part of its ongoing genocide).
In many Western countries, our governments are directly complicit and, many times, profiting from Israel’s genocide.
Whatever you do, please don’t judge the entirety of something by the actions of a few and please try and keep things – namely Internet etiquette and genocide – in perspective and ask yourselves what you would do if you were in their shoes.

The open-web narrative falls flat: the #Fediverse often turns into an echo chamber with illusory privacy (data is public) and arbitrary moderation on main instances. Meanwhile, platforms like #Bluesky remain superficial w.i.p. Mainstream media just look for usability, scale and clear governance, not digital fiefdoms.

Der Kommentar ist sehr offensichtlich ein Phishing-/Spam-Versuch. Auffällig sind unter anderem der künstlich erzeugte Zeitdruck, die angeblich drohende Accountsperre und vor allem der externe Kurzlink zur „Verifizierung“.
Wir haben den betreffenden Kommentar auf unserer Friendica-Instanz bereits über die Administration gelöscht.
Falls euch ähnliche Kommentare begegnen: nicht reagieren, keinen Link öffnen, melden und – sofern ihr die Möglichkeit dazu habt – entfernen.

In short, it is #Fediverse software that gives you a local timeline based on your city, and you can set the radius around it. The instance does not even know your exact position. It supports everything the fediverse allows and offers a Mastodon-like API.
Each post has a topic that you can mute. Moderators are promoted naturally in their area through good actions.

🛠️ dmv.community is now running Mastodon v4.6.5. This is a bugfix release with seven fixes covering collections, emoji autocomplete, profile image uploads, and more. Requires assets recompilation, so it's a quick upgrade but not a zero-downtime one, so you may have seen a blip.

Hubzilla version 11.4 was released recently, now has a new docker image built and should be ready for use.
On a technical note, if your setup involves connection pooling regarding your database, you will need to set system.pdo_emulate_prepares to true within your htconfig.php. The 11.4 release of the docker image, has the appropriate line in the htconfig.php commented out, for your convenience; naturally if you edit your htconfig in other ways (CLI, etc) that will still work, as well. Whichever way you choose to deploy your instance, you have options available to you.

Den wenn sich das @Bundeszentrale f. pol. Bildung ja nun auf den bösen Linksradikalismus und Linksextremismus fokusiert, damit dem Rechtsruck folgt und ihn noch verstärkt, dann werden sie hier einen sehr schweren Stand haben. Und ja wenn man schon Benjamin Blümchen oder Bibi Blocksberg als zu links einstuft, dann wundert einem gar nichts mehr. Zumal wenn es solche Entwicklungen bei der bpb schon länger gibt.
