Night sky over a calm lake: Star trails are reflected symmetrically in the water. Because the camera was pointed directly north and the horizon with the tree line on the opposite shore was placed in the center, the star trails form two concavely curved circular arcs that are mirrored in the lake.

On this multi-day backpacking trip we had maybe 6hrs of sunlight over a full week as the late summer storms hit us every day. This was one of the fleeting moments of brilliant light that pierced through the rain clouds. An absolutely breathtaking moment.

I caught my #Robin friend Henry sunbathing yesterday. There is a particular spot he likes to do this in. Sunbathing helps oil to spread across the feathers and helps to drive out parasites.

European robin.

I've been enjoying watching a pair of robins go in and out of my garden with food recently. They must have a nest somewhere nearby. Always a pleasure to see them and I'm glad that my tiny garden can provide a haven. I'll have to remember to put water out for them again as the hot weather returns this week.

Eine alte Eiche am Ufer eines Teiches, viele Wurzeln liegen frei im Sand, doch der Baum scheint dennoch fest verwurzelt zu sein. Das Foto zeigt den unteren Teil des Stammes und die Wurzeln, die sich in den Hang zu graben scheinen. An old oak tree on the bank of a pond; many of its roots are exposed in the sand, yet the tree still appears to be firmly rooted. The photograph shows the lower part of the trunk and the roots, which seem to be burrowing into the slope.
