Checked for log permissions on the #Drupal build. Got an error for ActivityPub logs indicating:
Error creating the signature: Unable to read key
Which tells me the #ActivityPub module isn't seeing the key in the private file folder. So it might be a permissions issue.

FYI, there's no license. If you're worried about someone "using" your posts for something without permission, set your posts to "followers only" and lock your account to require follow approvals.

1) Allow for set(s) of community filters to subscribe to. These can filter servers, accounts, tags, content, boost count, favorite count, and so on. But they're pre-packaged so you don't have thousands of people reinventing the filtering wheel, so to speak.
2) Allow for discovery engine(s) to subscribe to. Maybe some of these incorporate RSS import, maybe they do other sorts of magic. But they help you turn your feed into something that's exactly what you want really fast, without subscribing to individual hashtags on and off for a few years.
3) Allow for procedural creation of a social feed. Mental space / imagination only. This is for conceptualization purposes. Use (ethically-trained) AI models to assist in designing what a community *could* be. This will open new doors through the imagination, to be just a tad corny...

our problem of course is the centralized control #meta represents on content, with opaque algorithms. no doubt used to squash CSAM and right wing hate... but also anything outside facebook's plutocratic agenda

Monetizing posts, with profits going to the author, is difficult but possible without relying on crypto. Kudos for the attempt!
Focusing on one aspect - news - diminishes your user base to a specific interest group.
And, being a closed instance without an API or federation to other platforms made survival difficult.
