Ressourcenverschwendung … Hat man das damals nicht auch über das Internet im Allgemeinen gesagt, als die ersten Rechenzentren gebaut wurden? Was glaubst du, wie viele Ressourcen das Fediverse mit seinen Abertausenden Instanzen frisst? Willst du das #Fediverse jetzt auch nicht mehr nutzen?

Nehmen wir mal an, ein einziger Server hat einen Verbrauch von 150 Watt (und das ist noch sehr, sehr optimistisch), und 9.500+ aktive Mastodon (nur Mastodon, da sind Pixelfed und Co. nicht mit dabei), dann sind wir bei einem Gesamtverbrauch an Ressourcen alleine für Mastodon bei 1.425.000 Watt, also 1,43 Megawatt.

#HolosDiscover is a kind of search engine for the #Fediverse, fully working with #ActivityPub. That means it doesn't scrape content, it receives it organically.

As soon as a post is deleted, it's removed from the index. The same goes for edits. If an account opts out, everything is removed from the index.

It only indexes public posts from followed accounts that have the indexable flag turned on (locked accounts are excluded).

After more than a year on the waitlist, my Thundermail Early Bird invite finally landed. I subscribed without a second of hesitation and grabbed dol@tb.pro and dima@tb.pro before anyone else could.

Do I need them? Absolutely not. I already run my own three-letter domain, I am on Proton Visionary, Apple One Premier, and a dozen mailboxes I barely open.

Ist eine Webseite im Fediverse vertreten?

Dafür kann man auf der Webseite nach einem #Fediverse Dienst suchen, oder aber man verwendet einfach die Erweiterung #StreetPass von @tvler.
Wenn ihr eine Webseite aufruft wird in der Erweiterung angezeigt, ob die Webseite im Fediverse ist.
So wie ich das verstanden habe, läuft das über die Webseiten-Verifizierung von Mastodon. Andere Fediverse Dienste werden wahrscheinlich nicht gefunden.
Es wird auch ein Verlauf gespeichert. Die Profile kann man dann anklicken und auch dann direkt folgen. Dazu legt man in der Erweiterung fest, wie die Profile geöffnet werden sollen. Dort kann man seine Instanz eintragen und so dann direkt folgen.

Möchte man von Friendica aus einem User folgen, reicht es nicht seine Instanz einzutragen, kann man das mit Phanpy erledigen. Einfach das dort als Vorlage eintragen.
Für Friendica hatte ich bereits 2024 ein Issue angelegt, welches aber bisher nicht bearbeitet wurde.

Is there already an Internet Resiliency Club in #Berlin? I'm aware of #Freifunk and its established work. This seems broader and complementary: a group for practical experiments with mesh networks, offline communication, local services, and other ways to make communication more resilient.

I suspect there are already people working on these ideas in Berlin, so I thought I'd ask here on the #Fediverse. I'll also reach out on nebenan.de to see if there's any local interest.
