Was ich nicht so verstehen kann und will, das man in den grossen Medien, das #Fediverse links liegen lĂ€sst. Heute mittag auf DeutschlandFunk Kultur, sprach man ĂŒber Bluesky und Co. Und auch ĂŒber Alternativen zu X, aber von unserem #fediverse kein Ton ? WARUM ?
Ist es, weil es von "normalen" Menschen gefĂŒhrt wird und nicht von einer grossen Firma ?
Vielleicht sollte man doch ein wenig die Strategie in der Werbung Àndern ;D

From all Iâve read over the last few days, the consensus seems to be:
- #Bluesky have got a lot of the UX right, but there are still a lot to do on the infrastructure side to create a truly decentralized social media.
- #Mastodon / #Fediverse have come further in terms of building the underlying, decentralized infra, but are lagging behind when it comes to UX.
From what Iâve learned over the years, neither UX or infra are easy to fix down the road. But infra somewhat harder than UX.

I want to be able to block hashtags as easily as follow them. Click a tag. Under follow button is a mute button. Simple.
I don't want to take the time to set a filter for every forking sports hashtag but every time I see one I want to mute it!
I found this nice install guide for #snac written by @eltheanine and wanted to share.
Alsoâand I really donât want to sound like a BlueskyBro hereâis there any software that implements custom timelines in the Fediverse, such as the super cool ones Bluesky has?
It would be super cool if lists could be made not only of profiles, but also of hashtags and keywords, ideally even having custom algorithms, too!

How much does Meta, X, Google, etc make from an average, non-paying user each month?
Iâm considering donating the same amount to the development of #fediverse in one way or another.
@Aral Balkan Does it only work with local content on instances with the Mastodon API?
If so, that excludes any and all content from Fediverse instances without the Mastodon API, e.g. Hubzilla, (streams), Forte.

I see so many posts lamenting the fact that people are moving from Twitter to Bluesky instead of Mastodon, but I think thatâs a fundamental misunderstanding of the Fediverse and what it stands for.
People who want âjust another platformâ will not find what theyâre looking for here because Mastodon is not one.
By comparing Mastodon to other platforms specifically competing for Twitterâs user-base, we are trying to make Mastodon something itâs not; a stage where people shout at the world.
That concept is so fundamentally opposed to the philosophy of Mastodon and the greater Fediverse that I struggle to even make the comparison.
Mastodon is a tool to form communities where genuine conversations are actually given a chance and where small corners of the internet can blossom into something truly wonderful.
I think that is something worth holding on to, even if it means some people decide to join Bluesky instead.

That decision was shaped by my earlier experiences working for a company that exploited its employees with unpaid overtime, including countless holidays and weekends.
The shortcomings of traditional centralized social media platforms run by big tech companies have raised awareness among a growing number of people - but itâs still far from reaching the critical mass needed for real change.

A downside of fediverse (at the moment) is the wrongly displayed amount of likes/shares (boosts) of a post.
When you want to double check it, click the three dots underneath the post and select 'open in original page'.
It can result in a post showing for example '3 boosts' on your instance into '280 boosts' on the original page.
Sorry, aber ich finde weder friendica, peertube oder sonstige Instanzen zum anmelden, deutschsprachige schon gar nicht. Habe das mehrfach versucht.
Mastodon war easy zu finden.
AuĂerdem habe ich eine Diaspora Instanz gefunden die eben selbiges ist - Leere.
Einen Server selbst zu betreiben, fehlt mir die Zeit, MuĂe und auch die Kompetenz dazu (soll ja auch sicher sein). Da bin ich sicher nicht alleine.

A curated streaming fediverse post API compatible with the Mastodon API for use in teaching, demos, presenting, etc. Basically, if you were using the Mastodon public timeline API for these use cases before it started to require authentication, this will be a good alternative :)
