🆕 blog! “I'm just so bored of AI”
I'm just so bored of talking about AI. It's like listening to vapers tell me how delicious their flavoured poison is.
Did you ever meet someone at university who'd just tried drugs for the first time? Listening to a stoner ramble on about their mystic crystal revelations is amusing for the first five minutes, but quickly gets tiresome. Wow! You got your little…

Meta Now Lets Anyone Use Your Instagram Photos in AI Images—Unless You Opt Out
As part of Meta’s Muse Image model rollout, Instagram users with public accounts need to opt out to block AI generations of their content.Reece Rogers (WIRED)
The takeaway: the big AI companies are making ludicrous claims that are totally falsifiable about what their products will do to the job market. The incentive structure is such that creating fear around their products will make them loads of money.
I've heard that general take before, and it has felt intuitively true, but it's awesome to see someone provide evidence that the claims about job replacement are impossible without a quantum leap in energy generation etc.

Germany’s AfD has developed "Alternita," an AI-driven platform designed to quickly generate provocative social media posts. An investigation by Correctiv revealed the software uses large language models to create "rage bait" for digital campaigns.

AI Stylometry Identifies Anonymous Authors: Is Writing Style Now Biometric Data?
The secret weapon of stylometry -- the statistical analysis of writing style -- is something called “function words.” Most people assume AI looks for unique topical vocabulary. It actually looks for words like the, and, of, and in. Authors use these filler words unconsciously. Because you do not think about them, they are incredibly difficult to fake or manipulate. You naturally drop them into sentences at a highly specific, mathematical rate, making your "word print" almost wholly unique.
Edit : Since this seems to be an AI summarization (the whole site seems to be, upon closer investigation), here's the original journal article from PLOS .

Tencent has unveiled Hy3, a smaller yet powerful open-source AI model designed to rival larger competitors with strong performance in coding, reasoning, and agent tasks.
Much of AI "productivity gains" come from managers implicitly trusting an LLM to do a good job, and suspending the onerous micromanagement that humans employees get subjected to.
You can do that without paying Anthropic a single penny. It just requires letting the experts you hired do their jobs.

"It was to be the biggest undertaking in Britain for OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT. Stargate UK – a multibillion-pound UK datacentre project – would represent “a major step forward in the US-UK technology partnership”.
But the plans were paused in April, with an OpenAI spokesperson citing concerns over regulation and high energy costs.
Now the Guardian can reveal that OpenAI does not appear to have visited one of Stargate UK’s key sites – and that £20bn of the “potential” £30bn in investment touted by the UK government appears to have been totally hypothetical.
The findings raise questions about one of the most-hyped UK AI developments, and suggest a centrepiece of US-UK AI cooperation was in fact little more than a press release."

Two new blog posts about AI, one critical, one supportive
I have been writing these for over 4 months now. Not only are they long reads, but it took me a while to really get a good idea of how I wanted to express myself. I think I have had enough time to think about these ideas and these opinions that I can now express myself fairly clearly, but I’ll let you (my readers) be the judge. Of course, feel free to tag me in a Fediverse post if you want to send me feedback on what you liked or disliked about my articles. Yes, I know they are too long, I’d suggest reading them in a few sittings if you find it enjoyable.

Codex CLI, the free local AI-agent developed by OpenAI, quietly ruined your SSD!
Rui Fan (Apache Software Foundation) discovered that the software has been writing up to 640 terabytes of logs per year, which is way more than a typical SSD lifetime endurance. This may cause user account issues, data loss and hardware damage.

Is term "#Microslop" not the current method of talkin shit about that company for their overly abundant use of #AI? Why then push out a video which is both written and performed using AI?
The message is sound, yes. But the delivery, and progression of the script is absolutely terrible. The squirrel-chasey nature of how the robot jumps between unrelated subjects and (sometimes) back again, makes it very difficult to follow.

Execs are confused: we forced you to use all these powerful AI tools and yet our profits aren't 10x! What gives?
Individual productivity is always downstream of strategy. And the same "more, faster!" attitude that creates incremental improvements in delivery speed means that leaders rush through strategy formation.
If the tasks don't add up to anything meaningful, no amount of model improvements will help you.

Since it appears that @Jessnatarte has been found out for generating all their "photos" and has now deleted their account or blocked me - I have one more question.
Hey @Ducgris do you have an explanation as to why a lot of your photographs would have an embedded AI watermark?
Given the fact you have put your name to them, have even said where some of them were taken - like the obviously AI generated ladybug one that you claim was taken in Serra Calderona in May of 2021.
Clarification would be great, thank you.

Apparently Hasbro has begun demanding that CHILD ACTORS in their cartoon series like Peppa Pig sign over the rights for the company to use #AI to clone their voices for future commercial use.
CHILD ACTORS are being asked to sign away control of their voices.
I think this should be illegal. Parents should not have the legal right to sign away their child’s voice or likeness to be turned into corporate assets forever.
