The document bolsters recent claims by a lawyer for 2 of the women who say they had sex with #MattGaetz for money. It shows thousands of dollars in payments #Gaetz made to both of the lawyerās clients.
Feds established a trail of payments from #MattGaetz, #Trumpās choice to be AG, to women including some who testified that #Gaetz hired them for sex, acc/to a doc obtained by NYT & a lawyer representing some of the women.
The doc, assembled by investigators during a 3-yr #SexTrafficking investigation into Gaetz, is a chart that shows a web of thousands of dollars in Venmo payments between Gaetzā¦, associates & women who had drug-fueled sex parties 2017ā2020ā¦.
In 1811, a New Yorker was sentenced to 3 months in prison and fined $500 (about $12,000 today) for publicly insulting Jesus and Mary. The judge said only attacks on Christianity were punishable.
Much has changed since then but it wasnāt until 1952 that the Supreme Court ruled blasphemy was protected speech.

A 2nd-term #Trump might have the edge over a 1st-term #Harris because a #Republican-controlled #Senate could block some of her appointees. Perhaps moderate Harris nominees would get through, though: Most of #Bidenās appointees received bipartisan support. Another potential area of agreement is a bipartisan measure to incrementally increase the total number of federal district #judges to ease rising caseloads. The bill passed the Senate in Aug but has yet to receive a #House vote.

He has prioritized nominees who served as #PublicDefenders & #CivilRights lawyers, & his picks have tended to be more #liberal than those of past Democratic presidents.
The appeals courts lean slightly #Republican, while the district courts lean #Democratic (if you count senior judges who work less but still hear cases)ā¦. The next president will likely be able to tip that balance, letting one partyās appointees make up a clear majority of judges.
