Adippe zebrina treehopper. It is known for its distinctive, roof-shaped "helmet" (pronotum) that acts as camouflage. They can also resemble other insects, leaves, thorns etc. They have a mutualistic relationship with ants with providing ants with honeydew, in exchange of which ants provide them protection from predators. They are found in Central and South America.

Looking left from the trail I spot an obvious side quest portal over a small creek. A triangle is created from three trees: a log lays over the creek and two trees from opposite banks lean over, indicating it might be an entry point to the Illuminati. I will wait until the creek and marsh freeze over later this year before entering. Snow covers everything in this picture I took last week.

It was a remarkable run of many clear nights.

This is a single exposure on a fixed tripod.

The comet is sporting a whitish dust tail in this evening twilight image. The blue ion tail does not show because this is a single, short exposure and the lingering blue of twilight overwhelms the ion tail. The brightest star near the comet is η Ophiuchi, also known as Sabik. A few cirrus clouds are in the starry twilight sky, but they don't mask the comet or its tail.

I’ve taken many shots like this, every year, with the same subject and in the same place. Yet I’m still fascinated by this perspective.
This one is from just a few hours ago: the sunset and the "fragile" flower. A breath of wind will be enough, and the flower, as we see it, will vanish. Yet it will be everywhere, spreading itself across the world.
There it stands, swaying in the gentle air and the soft warmth of a November sunset, defying whatever happens around it.

No yesterday, no tomorrow - just here, now, basking in this poetic light.

And life, silently, flows on.

I hiked a large sand dune for the first time yesterday. What a unique experience! Quite a slog, hiking straight up the side to reach the ridge. A surprise with the challenge of walking the ridge— didn’t expect it to be so sharp. The drop-off on each side looked steeper/scarier than it actually was. A fun time! It's a new image created by the Murchison Widefield Array, which scanned the sky in 20 radio "colors" over frequencies from 72 to 231 megahertz.

Astronomers from the International Centre of Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) have created one of the largest low-frequency radio colour images of the Milky Way ever assembled.
