* Not only was I lucky enough to see a stoat up close today (see previous post), but this afternoon I finally found some of those tiny, fluffy, woolly creatures other people have been spotting. This one was kind enough to bring her two little lambs with her, too.

Ich mag den Namen ja. Ist keine Hyazinthe, sondern eine Orchidee, grünlich ist sie auch nicht wirklich und sie wächst auch immer mal wieder außerhalb des Waldes... ;)

Ein Foto von zwei Grünlichen Waldhyazinthen. Die beiden Orchideen stehen im Querformatbild im rechten Drittel. Bis auf die Pflanzen ist alles in Unschärfe gehüllt. Der Vordergrund ist sehr dunkel, fast schwarz. Der Hintergrund besteht aus einem unscharfen Baum im linken Bereich des Fotos, der von der aufgehenden Sonne angeleuchtet wird. Den Rest macht mehr oder weniger strukturiertes Grün des Laubs der Bäume aus, das ebenfalls von der Sonne angestrahlt wird. Die beiden Orchideen stehen im Schatten, sind aber trotzdem recht hell.

Das Foto wirkt sehr dramatisch und atmosphärisch. Zu sehen ist eine weite Landschaft mit einer schmalen Straße, die sich durch grüne Felder bis zum Horizont zieht. Im Mittelpunkt steht ein einzelner Baum, der nahe der Straßenkante steht und fast silhouettenhaft erscheint. Der Himmel dominiert das Bild: Dunkle, schwere Wolken türmen sich bedrohlich auf und bedecken einen Großteil des Himmels. Gleichzeitig bricht in der Mitte helles Sonnenlicht durch die Wolken und erzeugt einen starken Kontrast zwischen Licht und Schatten. Einige blaue Himmelsstücke sind sichtbar, besonders auf der rechten Seite, was Hoffnung oder einen Wetterumschwung andeutet. Die Stimmung des Bildes ist intensiv und fast filmisch – eine Mischung aus Ruhe, Naturgewalt und Dramatik. Die Perspektive der Straße zieht den Blick in die Ferne und verstärkt das Gefühl von Weite und Einsamkeit. Insgesamt erinnert das Foto an einen Moment kurz vor oder nach einem Gewitter.

The forest town of Butte Falls, Oregon. The cafe past the stop sign on the right has a walk up window. I walked up & ordered coffee. She said, "Fifty cents." As she disappeared to get the coffee I started digging dollar bills out of my wallet thinking I had misheard her. When she returned with the coffee, again she said, "Fifty cents." I gave her two dollars. She said she had raised coffee from $0.75 to a $1 but people complained so she lowered the price to $0.50.
