It was a beautiful stroll through the park, watching the wildlife there when this situation came to be. Unplanned, just by pure luck.

A scratchy picture of a very bulky, 10-story concrete building with a large ventilation stack on the roof. Lights of the building are punctuated with large paned windows... but many of these windows used to be open cubby holes housing large tanks of fermenting beer. Alas, the beer is gone. So too is the large Hamm's sign and giant glass of beer on the roof that used to promise drunken pleasure to all passing cars on the neighboring elevated freeway.

Industrial #ArtDeco, at its finest! This abandoned powerplant plant control room in Hungary was powered down decades ago.

The oval room is lit by an immense skylight, which casts dramatic light across the original green metal control panels. These walls remain lined with levers, valves, and dials.

Without a doubt, one of my favourite adventures. I have visited three times now!

When I, kneeling down in the snow, took this photo, this morning, someone stopped and asked me what I was photographing. I just said that there was something appealing about this little lump of ice that had rolled down and left a trail. How could I explain that part of my brain was singing "Keep rollin', rollin', rollin'" while another part imagined an albino penguin running in the snow, about to jump off the cliff into the water, while I made a mental note to look up whether albino penguins really exist, and a third part formed a story that began with ‘Once upon a time, there was a little chicken/penguin/whatever...wandering around in the snow...’🙈

Got up at 3am to drive our group to the airport. Auroras were going off as we packed up the bags. Saw some moose stealing a farmer's hay on the drive. Two weeks of intense photography and sharing is now over.

These workshops push me. They force me to be the best I can be, because I don't want to let anyone down. I want my companions to get beautiful winter weather, clear nights with nordlys and a taste of the most delicious local cuisine.

I want them to come to Norwat and feel like they've had an utterly unique experience that nobody else has ever had. And this workshop was just that.

Anyhoo, here's a few shots from the final daytime outing, about 24 hours ago. Feels like a lifetime ago.

Before things got proper dark and the snow got proper busy, I managed to land a moment of calmness, shooting out across the fjord to Grov.
